Why Healing in Community Hits Different: What If Rest Didn’t Always Have To Be Alone?
The Kind of Connection I Didnโt Know I Was Craving
A creative reflection on why real rest isn’t solo and how brave women are rewriting what it means to get away
Sept 14, 2025

A few days ago, I returned from a wellness entrepreneur retreat in Mallorca with a heart that felt more full than it had in years.
And if Iโm being honest, I knew it would be amazing, but I didnโt expect THAT.
I went to connect with other female leaders, lead a workshop on Self-Trust, practice presence, and speak on a panel about one of my favourite topics:
How creativity is beyondย self-expression. Itโs a pathway to healing and to building a soulfully aligned business. What I didnโt realize was just how much I needed to feel seen in return.
We laughed. We got vulnerable. We moved through resistance together.
And for the first time in a long time, I felt a version of connection that felt deeply regulating.
One of the most powerful moments was sitting in on a talk by best-selling author and speaker Nicole Bianchi. She didnโt just speak about bravery, she activated it in the room and we all felt it.
We didnโt just leave inspired, we took action.
Small, brave moves. In real time.
And then…something clicked.

The Power of Shared Healing
Itโs easy to believe that healing is a solo path. That rest must look like silence, stillness, and solitude.
And while those things absolutely have their place, Iโm learning that rest can also look like:
- Being in a room where you donโt have to explain your ambition
- Laughing and crying with women who โget itโ before you say a word
- Sharing creative space with others who arenโt here to compete, but to rise together
We heal in community.
We regulate through relationship.
And we remember who we are (sometimes most clearly) when someone else holds up a mirror and says, โI see you.โ

How Creative Retreats Are Becoming the New Girls Trip
I recently came across this article in CN Traveller that put words to something Iโve been feeling for a while:
โMore women are swapping the typical beach vacay for creative retreats that offer not just relaxation, but reconnectionโwith themselves, with others, with purpose.โ
โ CN Traveller, โHow Creative Retreats Became the New Girlsโ Tripโ
Yes.
This.
The traditional “escape” is being redefined. We’re not just looking for a pause, weโre looking for presence.
For emotional space.
For a reset that lasts longer than a sunset cocktail and a few good selfies.
We want to feel something again.
To create something again.
To connect without the pressure of fixing, hustling, or performing.

What Iโm Taking With Me (and Offering to You)
As I integrate everything that unfolded in Mallorca, one thing is clear:
The work I do, Creative Mindfulness Coaching, art-based healing, nervous system support, isnโt about adding more to your plate.
Itโs about creating sacred space.
The kind that invites you back to yourself.
The kind that reminds you that connection is healing.
And now, I get to carry this energy with me into my upcoming painting retreat with my art group. A different kind of connection, but just as nourishing.
Iโll be sharing some behind-the-scenes moments from that retreat too, but in the meantimeโฆ
A Reflection for You:
๐ญ When was the last time you felt deeply connected. Not just to others, but to yourself?
What might happen if you gave yourself permission to stop striving and start receiving?
Not in isolation.
But in the kind of space that feels safe enough for your nervous system to finally exhale.
With love & creativity,
Katherine
