When Everything Feels More Urgent Than Your Creativity
Aug 26, 2025

If you’ve been feeling creatively stuck latelyโฆ
If you keep saying โIโll start tomorrowโ or โafter I get through this to-do listโโฆ
If your art supplies are collecting dust and the project that once lit you up now fills you with dread
Youโre not lazy.
Youโre not broken.
And youโre not alone.
Procrastination is your nervous system doing exactly what it was designed to do:
Keep things the same.
Same = no change = no need to expend more energy = SAFE
โ๏ธ Why We Freeze
Creative expression is beyond turning an idea into a physical state. Creative expression is about being seen. Even if no one else will see it, when you create, you’re exposing something real from your mind, body, or soul into a 3D version. It’s vulnerable because it feels alive.
And when your nervous system doesnโt feel safe (no matter how much you tell yourself you’re fine)
It says:
โLetโs not go there. Letโs clean the kitchen instead.โ
โLetโs reorganize the calendar again.โ
โLetโs do something more useful.โ
Freezing is a brilliant act of protection. It allows your body to pause before facing something new and unfamiliar. It doesnโt yet feel ready to feel.
Often, what we call a โcreative blockโ is just an inner voice saying:
โIโm scared Iโll mess it up.โ
โIโm worried it wonโt be good enough.โ
โIโm scared that once I start, Iโll feel everything Iโve been trying to avoid.โ
So we shut down. We get โbusy” and we put off the very thing our soul is craving.

๐ฌ๏ธ What If you Didn’t Need a Plan though?
When we hold onto a specific vision of what our creativity should look like, we unconsciously start holding our breath.
But creativity doesnโt emerge from control. It emerges from presence.
From allowing.
From responding.
From being rather than operating on autopilot.
This practice is all about letting go of the rules, releasing the pressure, and letting your subconscious speak for you.
Remember this and return to it again and again:ย Creativity isnโt a luxury.
It.is.your. LIFELIFE.
Itโs not about seeing it as “carving out an hour”. Itโs about creating a moment of space… for you.
โจ 30 seconds of intentional breathing.
โจ A few scribbled lines or doodles just for you.
โจ A 3-minute dance to your favorite song.
Especially when you’re overwhelmed.
Especially when your nervous system is overstretched.
And especially when your mind is telling you there’s no time.
Thatโs when your creativity becomes the medicine. It’s not for productivity, but for presence. For peace. And for remembering who you are beneath the roles and routines.
