Peace was never the destination. It was the art of finally coming home to myself🤍

The journey from overwhelm to peace didn’t come with a roadmap 🗺️

There were no coordinates, no perfect morning routine🤸‍♀️, no checklist 📝

Just this aching feeling that there had to be more than rushing through life...

For years, I believed peace meant stillness. That I needed to somehow “clear my mind” to feel better

But what if peace was never about emptying yourself… and instead about remembering yourself?

It was in the micro-moments I used to overlook—

🩵 Pausing between tasks

🩵 Letting my breath be the first thing I tune into instead of the last

🩵 Listening to what I actually needed instead of pushing through and ignoring the signs

🩵 Honouring my very busy, creative mind instead of trying to “fix it”

That’s where I discovered:

Peace isn’t found by getting somewhere else or becoming someone else 🗝️ It’s unlocked by finally honouring who you already are

Your pace isn’t wrong
Your energy isn’t too much
➡️Your busy mind is not the problem—it’s your pathway to peace

For 5 years, the Chinese bamboo shows no visible growth.

No sprout. No sign.

But beneath the soil, it’s rooting deeply.

Then in its 5th year, it shoots up 90 feet in just 6 weeks.

🌱 Did it grow in six weeks? Or over five years and six weeks?

But just like the bamboo. You’ve been growing beneath the surface.

Not still.
Not stuck.
Just becoming strong enough to rise.

I accidentally filmed the exact moment shame took over my body 🫂

I was in Halifax, filming a beautiful botanical garden to hold onto the beauty…

Then I saw people walking by.
Without even thinking, I dropped the camera to face the ground

Not because I was done filming.

But because I was embarrassed that someone might see me.

The garden didn’t change... 🌱

But I did—because I suddenly believed I had no right to document that moment.

Because somewhere in me, an old voice still whispered:

“People on camera just want attention.”

That voice has stopped me from showing up more times than I can count.

🔆It has silenced joy.
🎨Interrupted creativity.
🩵And stolen my peace.

But here’s what I realized as I rewatched the footage:

I didn’t just capture a pretty garden🌺

I captured the moment self-judgment tried to shrink me back into smallness✨

And now, I get to choose something new.

What if honouring your creative expression isn't "attention-seeking"?

What if it's coming home to the peace that's always been waiting for you?🫂

We were trained to scan breath like a lifeline.

But I never once paused to notice my own.

Not the breath I was holding.
Not the tension I carried.

Not the silent exhale I waited 12 hours to release—
until I got home, showered, hugged my husband and finally felt safe.

🤍Now, when I sigh in nature or paint with no plan,

I take it as a little love note from my nervous system
💌 You’re safe now
💌 You’re healing
💌 You’re allowed to exhale

This is what therapeutic art actually does.

It brings the body back into safety—
one mark, one breath, one truth at a time🖌️
