Feeling Behind Before the Day Even Starts? Try This.

January 20, 2026

You know those mornings when you open your eyes and your brain is already sprinting?

Like somehow youโ€™ve been awake for 30 seconds and youโ€™re already behind on a to-do list you havenโ€™t even written yet?

Same.

Itโ€™s the pressure of wanting to do more, be more, move faster all before your feet even touch the floor.

So what do you do when the pressure shows up before your coffee does?

You pause.
And you pick ONE of these reset rituals.

This is your 10-minute reset.

Think of it as a choose-your-own-adventure.

But hereโ€™s the catch: pick just one and stay with it for 10 minutes.
No multitasking. No pressure. Just presence.

Because this isnโ€™t about getting this done just so that you can go back to your list.
Itโ€™s about returning to alignment, trust, and presence.

๐Ÿ”น Reset Option 1: Notice more.

Look around. Find one object nearby (a notebook, a candle, the blanket next to you).
Now imagine you had to describe it to someone without saying what it is.

Write down 10 ways to describe it.

Yes, 10.

โœจ Not because 10 is a nice round number but because after 3-5, it takes you from going through the task just to get it done, to actually having to be present and notice the details.

๐Ÿ”น Reset Option 2: Brain dump freestyle.

Open your journal or paper and a pen.

Start writing exactly whatโ€™s in your head even if itโ€™s โ€œI donโ€™t know what to write.โ€

Let it all out:

โ€œI donโ€™t know what to writeโ€ฆ bananaโ€ฆ Iโ€™m tiredโ€ฆ I forgot to text Jessโ€ฆ still frustrated about what she saidโ€ฆ this to-do list is spiralingโ€ฆโ€

Thereโ€™s no perfect sentence here.
Just let your mind exhale.

๐Ÿ”น Reset Option 3: Move through it.

Go outside for a 10-minute walk.
Yes, even if itโ€™s freezing. (Ontario friends, I see you ๐Ÿฅถ)

Pick a visual pattern to look for and see how often you notice it:

๐Ÿ‘ฃ Footprints in the snow
๐ŸŸฅ A colour (like red or blue)
๐ŸŒฟ A texture (tree bark, gravel, shadow shapes)

The goal isnโ€™t steps.
Itโ€™s space.

the truth behind all of this:

The activity isnโ€™t the point.

What matters is what your choice says to your nervous system:

โ€œI matter.โ€
โ€œMy pace is valid.โ€
โ€œI donโ€™t need to earn rest to deserve it.โ€

You have 1,440 minutes in your day.
Take just 10 for you.

Not to push through.
Not to check off.
But to remember whoโ€™s actually leading this life.

๐Ÿ’ญ Try it right now:

Pick one. Set a timer for 10 minutes. No pressure. Just presence.

Send me an email [email protected] and let me know which one you chose. Iโ€™d love to hear!

With calm & creativity, and courage
Katherine
